Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the modalities I am trained in.
EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy treatment option that may be suitable for trauma, phobias, anxiety, stress and other experiences.
If you are interested in EMDR and would like further information, we can discuss individual suitability.
-
This is really tricky to provide an answer for, and is completely dependent on your individual needs.
I am able to work within solution focused, brief intervention models and long-term models.
The approach will be discussed with you when we define your goals.

I apply a variety of humanistic approaches, as well as cognitive and behavioural modalities. In each session I show up as non-judgemental, empathic and with the belief that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in overcoming challenges and processing difficult emotions and experiences. I allow the pace of therapy to be led by you and you will remain in control every step of the way.
I have a focus on relationship-based practice, because I believe trust and rapport with your therapist is crucial in the therapeutic process.
Interventions used within my sessions include EMDR, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, creative therapies, solution focused therapy, person-centred therapy and CBT.
My approach is tailored to the needs of each client and I am trained in a variety of modalities and frameworks to ensure each client’s needs are supported in a way that works for them.

A Mental Health Care Plan is not required to access my Counselling services, and sessions do not currently attract a Medicare rebate.
One benefit of this, is that the waiting times are usually much shorter than accessing government funded/Medicare services and the option to access ongoing mental health support is available, rather than being capped at 10 sessions- which is the case with Medicare.
-
Payment is collected at the start of each session, unless an alternative payment plan has been discussed.
If finances are a barrier for you, please get in touch to discuss options.
-
I am able to support plan managed and self managed NDIS participants.

I am a PACFA registered Counsellor.
This means that I meet the high education and training standards set by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and to remain active, I am required to meet minimum professional development activities and professional supervision hours each year.
I would encourage you to only seek mental health support, by professionals registered to an overseeing body with high ethical and educational standards.

Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Counsellor, Social Worker, Mental Health Practitioner…the list goes on. You are not alone if you read these titles and aren’t quite sure what type of professional support you need!
The choice of which mental health service provider you see is a personal one and will come down to your individual goals and reasons for accessing support.
There are a lot of similarities among how Psychologists and Counsellors practice and they are often trained in many of the same modalities.
Counsellors in Australia do not diagnose mental health conditions or write reports in the same was as Psychologists and instead many Counsellors are able to support the ‘whole person’.
I chose to study Counselling as I resonate with humanistic approaches and relationship-based practice as the foundation of my support.
With many complex barriers to accessing Psychology and Psychiatry in Australia, Counselling provides an alternative or additional option for people requiring support, without the need for a diagnosis or extensive wait times.
Many registered Counsellors are trained in identifying and supporting mental health conditions, which may be diagnosed by a client’s GP, however a diagnosis is not necessary for our service.
It is important to seek support from professionals trained in your area of need. If you are unsure if I am able to support you- please ask!
